Illustrative Logo- Revision #1

I decreased the stroke weight on the logo and it already looks better and more accurate to my original sketches. I picked a higher stroke weight right before critique on Thursday because I thought that it would make the design more "logo-y". Instead, I think it made the design more clunky and awkward. The lighter line weight makes the lines look more tapered and elegant.

Logo Project

This is the typographical logo. I plan on changing this one by cleaning up anchor points, rounding out the bottom of the "d", and decreasing the stroke weight in a few places to make the lines look more tapered.
I like my concept for the illustrative logo but there are definitely some changes that I want to make. The critique on last Thursday was very helpful to point out some areas that I can work on to make the logo better. I am going to tighten and straighten the logo, establish a stronger connection between the tail (the "c") and the "d", decrease the stroke weight, eliminate and clean up anchor points, and get rid of the stroke on the round part of the "d".

Illustrative Logo

The two logos above are the ones that I like the best for the illustrative design. They are slightly different- I am having a hard time deciding whether I like the one with the nose or without. Suggestions?

Here I was playing with the use of negative space. I am always drawing hair in my sketchbook so I tried explored a "hair inspired" design.

Design for the Typography Logo

This is the first design that I really liked. I was going for something that had an organic, art nouveau style to it. I decided that I was not letting myself explore other design options so I drew a lot of new, completely different designs, just to see if I might come up with something I like better.
This is the logo that I picked from the newer designs. And I do like this design better. It is cleaner and more sophisticated than the first design. I am still keeping some of the art nouveau influence with the curves and tapering lines. I drew two versions of this design.

This is the version I like the best. I am sure that I will tweak it in illustrator; I might shave off the sharp point at the top of the "C" to see if a curve fits better.

Clever advertisements

Here are some ads I found on the internet that I think are very well designed. I appreciate the humor in both of these ads.

I love how Lipton tea is utilizing a shopping bag to advertise their tea. Shoppers become a walking billboard for Lipton. I like how the design of the shopping bag so clearly resembles a tea bag.

This ad cracked me up! I think the connection between the used toilet paper roll and the Immodium bottle on the right really explains the product's use.
